We are an open membership community choir working on a cooperative basis with teaching being shared by members. We buy in the services of professional musicians to work with us on specific items as necessary or to introduce new styles of singing into our repertoire.
Members come from all walks of life. Our repertoire is varied and includes European and African folk songs, old English drinking songs, rounds and popular music, often arranged by members. We sing mainly acapella but also collaborate with local musicians to sing accompanied.
We have performed at many local community and fundraising events and festivals, including the E17 Arts Trail where last year we ran a family workshop which concluded with a performance.
We take our name from the pub that has supported us with rehearsal and performance spaces, practical help and encouragement since our formation.
If you would like to join us we have weekly practice sessions at:
Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub
53 Hoe Street, London E17
Wednesdays - 7.30 - 9.30pm
You do not need to have any previous experience singing or be able to read music and you do not need to audition. There is a small weekly charge to cover costs.
